From October 24th to 26th, 2024, Graz will once again be transformed by the magic of Klanglicht, an annual festival that brings together light and sound art in a unique and immersive experience. This year’s theme, “TRÄUME // DREAMS,” invites visitors on a three-night journey through dreamscapes, offering a kaleidoscope of emotions, fantasies, and sensations.

Dreams, whether we are asleep or awake, take us to a world of hidden desires and distant utopias, transporting us beyond the present into extraordinary experiences. In Klanglicht 2024, national and international artists will explore their own—and our collective—dream worlds through a variety of artistic installations, each unique in style and expression.

Dreamlike Installations across Graz

The festival will unfold in various locations throughout the city, including the Joanneumsviertel, Schlossberg, Herrengasse, and the Graz Opera, among others. These spaces will be transformed by stunning light and sound works, ranging from subtle and poetic to powerful and expansive. Visitors will encounter a spectrum of artistic expressions, from joyful and playful to abstract and contemplative, offering a dreamlike blend of the surreal and the real.

One highlight of the festival is Boris Acket’s “EINDER / Surface,” an audiovisual installation that evokes the boundary between reality and imagination through a giant moving wave of light. Another must-see is “SOT GLAS” by Ana Shametaj and Giuditta Vendrame, which invites you into a labyrinth of sound and light that explores collective and individual experiences, set against the backdrop of the Graz Schlossberg.

Other installations include “REVERSE” by Yann Nguema, which plays with time and space at the iconic Uhrturm, and “REM” by Gudrun Barenbrock, a multimedia work that delves into the fragmented process of dreaming.
